Lutsko Landscape

Lutsko Associates creates beauty by incorporating cultural meaning and ecological processes with sustainable design in Landscape Architecture. They combine a refined, contemporary aesthetic with sound ecological principles. There landscape design approach is a focused component of a broad based sustainable design philosophy.

Lutsko's work begins with site planning, specifically addressing storm water management, materials and resource conservation, soil health, habitat preservation, restoration and development, and energy efficiency through passive cooling and heating. In the context of diverse bioregions they incorporate local native plants to restore the beauty and ecological function of damaged sites. They specifically address water usage/conservation and the reestablishment of native plant communities and eloquently incorporate site architecture and infrastructure into the surrounding landscape.

Pursuing the potential of new materials, and new uses for traditional materials and encompassing elements of the endemic landscape, they create places that balance the natural ecology of the site with the needs and histories of its human users places that engage people’s mind and spirit.

“ I dream of a new age of curiosity. We have the technical means for it; the desire is there; the things to be known are infinite; the people who can employ themselves at this task exist. Why do we suffer? From too little: from channels that are too narrow, skimpy, quasi-monopolistic, insufficient. There is no point in adopting a quasi- protectionist attitude, to prevent 'bad' information from invading and suffocating the 'good'. Rather, we must simply multiply the paths and the possibilities of comings and goings."
