The World of Rick Owens

Rick Owens: Celebrating Two Decades of dark raw aesthetics. Rick Owens, hailed as the "Master of Elements," has reshaped fashion with his iconic play on proportion and volume. In honor of his 20-year legacy,  The World of Rick Owens  concept store launched at Selfridges, London, in 2014, featuring a curated selection of his favorite designs. Four prominent window displays, inspired by Oscar Wilde’s  Salomé , showcased Owens’ gender-defying, avant-garde aesthetics while paying tribute to his exclusive 20-piece capsule collection for Selfridges. A Multi-Creative Force Post-marriage to Michèle Lamy in 2006, Owens expanded his artistry into brutalist furniture design, drawing inspiration from WWII bunkers, Egyptian tombs, and Art Deco leather bars. Vetements: Redefining Fashion Through Rule-Breaking Designs Launched in 2014 by brothers Guram and Demna Gvasalia, Vetements has quickly become one of the most polarizing and talked-about brands in fashion. Guram serves as the business mastermind, while Demna, the creative visionary, has reshaped the industry with his sociological take on wardrobe essentials. Anti-Fashion Philosophy Vetements thrives on challenging conventional fashion norms, embracing anti-fashion aesthetics that resonate with individualistic, pragmatic younger generations. Its exaggerated silhouettes and streetwear-inspired designs command couture-level prices, sparking heated debates among both fashion insiders and casual observers. Controversy as a Strategy Vetements doesn’t strive for traditional beauty. Instead, it embraces a "liberal ugliness," rejecting symmetry and proportion in favor of exclusivity and avant-garde appeal. This deliberate departure from norms creates an illusion of elitism, positio...

Japanese photographer Kimiko Yoshida

Japanese photographer Kimiko Yoshida’s self-portraits transcend time, each image transporting viewers into a different era. Through a series of meticulously crafted characters, she shifts the focus away from herself, blending seamlessly with her surroundings. Her use of makeup is not for enhancement, but for disappearance—making her an almost invisible presence within the frame. The costumes and makeup serve as the core of her transformation, with no digital editing involved, only raw, unfiltered artistry. Kimiko’s approach to photography is a deliberate ritual, a journey of metamorphosis into a timeless space of infinite layers. The act of self-transformation becomes the subject itself, with the search for identity dissolving into nothingness. Through consistent lighting, framing, and the consistent use of herself as the subject, Yoshida redefines self-portraiture, highlighting the fluidity of identity and the art of becoming. ...
